DETAILS ABOUT BRANCHES

INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY:

In the course in Information Technology the students must keep up with new developments and master new skills constantly due to the extremely rapid rate of advancements in computer technology and applications of information technology. New areas of specialization will become available. The people working in IT use their knowledge of database and their utilities in providing Decision Support Systems to various problems in the socio-economic arena. This would include envisioning, designing, developing, and testing software applications - ERP's., Database (from designing to administration), operating systems, and network distribution. They may also be called on to solve problems that arise at the companies they work for or at client sites. These engineers typically have strong programming skills although this task comprises only a portion of their work.

MECHANICAL ENGINEERING:

Mechanical engineering is the branch of engineering that is generally concerned with understanding forces and motion, and their application in solving problems of interest to society. The field includes aspects of thermodynamics, fluid and solid mechanics, mechanisms, materials, and energy conversion and transfer, and involves the application of physics, mathematics, chemistry, and increasingly, biology and computer science. Importantly, the field also emphasizes the process of formulation, design, optimization, manufacture, and control of new systems and devices.

Mechanical engineers can find opportunities in many fields including automotive, aerospace, materials processing and development, power production, consumer products, robotics and automation, semiconductor processing, and instrumentation. Mechanical engineering can also be the starting point for careers in bioengineering, environmental and aeronautical engineering, finance, and business management.

CHEMICAL ENGINEERING:

CHEMICAL ENGINEERS convert scientific discoveries into marketable products. They are involved in many aspects of Chemical Production, Research and Design, as well as in the construction and operation of industrial plants. Chemical Engineers develop equipment for the manufacture of chemicals and related products and for the prevention of air, water, and soil pollution. They conduct research to develop new manufacturing processes, analyze operating procedures, equipment and machinery functions, and make recommendations for reducing processing time and cost.

CIVIL ENGINEERING:

Civil Engineers the world over have made a tremendous impact on people's lives by their substantial contributions in construction of bridges, dams and levees, harbours, waterways and irrigation facilities, building, airports, highways, pipelines, railroads, power lines, water supply systems and waste treatment facilities. Civil engineers engage in a wide range of activities such as research, design, development, management, and the control of engineering systems and their components.

Thanks to better technology, civil engineering provides unique and unlimited career opportunities that can only be met by professionally educated people.

INDUSTRIAL ENGINEERING:

Industrial Engineering graduates can create great demand for themselves by frequent contact with employers through initiatives such as advisory council meetings, continuing education, co-op programs, consultation, research/development, publications, and student projects.

These details about the groups would assist you to choose a branch in engineering which suits you the best.

ELECTRONICS & COMMUNICATION ENGINEERING:(and related)

These courses have great demand from the students.
Electronics-based products play a vital role in our daily lives from mobile phones, personal computers, digital televisions and radio to the Internet with its complex network of satellites and state-of-the-art fiber optic communications. Computer technology, telecommunications and consumer electronics are rapidly evolving, so expertise in these fields is in great demand. Electronics and Communications Engineering course prepares students for the evaluation, planning, design, development, implementation and operation of electronic devices, circuits, and instruments, and of communication equipment, devices and systems.

ELECTRICAL & ELECTRONICS ENGINEERING:

It will come as no surprise that electrical and electronic engineering, with unequivocal commercial significance and with a growing impact on almost every walk of modern life, is also a broad and vibrant inter-disciplinary academic field. Electrical and Electronics Engineering is designed to train students in the analysis, planning, design, development, implementation, operation, instrumentation, and control of power systems and associated electrical and electronic machines, equipment, and devices..This group has the base of conventional Electrical Engineering dealing with Electrical power generation and distribution besides power electronics.

COMPUTER SCIENCE & ENGINEERING:

This course has great demand among the students.
A course in Computer Science and Engineering offers multitude of opportunities for careers in industry or for higher learning, beyond introducing the students to one of the most rapidly evolving technologies in the world. The computer software engineers must keep up with new developments and master new skills. The students of CSE should create combined knowledge of engineering, mathematics, and computer science to analyze the systems and develop applications toward innovation and improvement.

In the next post i will discuss about other branches in engineering.
